Ashe County High School
The newly built Ashe County High School is located in
West Jefferson NC. The new high school is a state of the
art facility with all new amenities and classrooms. In
addition to the new building, the school's academics are
thriving as well.
 The
school features a JROTC department, a vocational
department, in addition to other academic
departments. Students can learn the skills to start a
trade and continue their education in the trade field.
Trade fields include agriculture, consumer sciences,
technology sciences, business, medical science, and
industrial sciences like welding. Student also have the
opportunities to take art classes, foreign languages and
musical classes.
Ashe County High School also has a thriving band,
marching band and athletic department. The athletic
department boasts a wide range of sports including:
basketball, baseball, cheerleading, cross country,
football, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track,
volleyball, and wrestling.
The guidance department works with students and their
families to develop a plan for each student. If students
are interested in pursuing a college education, the
guidance counselor can work with the student and help
them choose the appropriate classes to ensure their
success in college. Also, the guidance department has
all the necessary information and skills to help
students in preparing for the SAT's and ACT's needed to
get into college.
